Lionized by Italian critics, the piece protests the indifference of Fortress Europe to the everyday tragedy of refugees from Africa, who have perished for years in the Strait of Sicily on fruitless sea voyages to escape massacres and starvation in their homelands.
This project is funded in part through a grant from the city of Milwaukee Arts Board and the Wisconsin Arts Board.

Originally published in 1879, Woyzeck deals with the dehumanising effects
of the world of a soldier. It is a ‘working class’ tragedy with the added dimension of portraying the perennial tragedy of human jealousy’.
This contemporary version by James Butchart is created in Theatre Gigante style, incorporating dialogue, movement and music!
